Case Study – CLEANFUND

$490,000 in C-PACE allows Corison Winery to offset their entire energy bill while using the savings to pay for the new roof.

Corison Winery is located in the heart of the St. Helena, which is one of the most highly acclaimed premium vineyard and winery areas in Napa County. Built in 1975, the architecture of winery is a tribute to the New England Colonial Revival Farmhouse.

The Challenge
Cathy Corison and William Martin, owners of Corison Winery knew their roof was due for an update and also wanted to go solar. William designed his new standing seam roof, with colors that stayed with the tradition of the original design. Along with the new energy efficient roof, Corison also wanted the solar modules to disappear as much as possible into the lines of the new roof.

The Solution
The owners of Corison did not want to refinance with their bank loan and needed a financing mechanism that worked well with Corison’s ownership structure, which is two separate LLCs, one owns the winery and the other LLC owns the land. By utilizing CPACE, the owners are better able to allocate expenses and savings across the business. The winery pays the CPACE assessment and also takes advantage of all the energy savings. CleanFund used Helioscope software to mock up the project worked directly with Onyx Solar to design the right technology mix needed to achieve the solar design.

The Result
Onyx used their photovoltaic glass etching technology to color match the modules with the color of the new roof. The $490,000 in C-PACE provided by CleanFund will allow Corison Winery to offset their entire energy bill while using the savings to pay for the new roof. The owners will also benefit from savings on roof maintenance since their new roof has a 30-year warranty. renovation.
